Estee Lauder Lipstick in Orange Poppy

I've been trying to venture into brighter lipsticks, but so far, it has been a total failure. i haven't ventured out much and stayed within the pink family. I know my limitations when it comes to color and since I have darker colored lips, I just tend to wear lipstick that look like my natural color or a few shades deviating from it. For some reason I just picked up this shade called Orange Poppy from Estee Lauder, for about $20 and I love it.
BAM! The color can be ultra bright or you can tone it down by just applying it in a dabbing motion or blotting. It is a fun bright orange-ish coral lipstick that instantly brightens up my complexion. It is so smooth and moisturizing and lasts fairly well. It has an odd smell and taste but it fades after a bit.

It looks a bit red from the swatch, but it has no hint of red, and it is naturally a bit glossy, so no lipgloss required. Not going to lie to you and tell you that it looks good on anyone because my sister has a shade darker complexion, me being nc20 and her being nc25, with light pink lips and this looked horrible on her. It was too loud and made her look a bit over the top and not in a good way. I'm sure that there is a drugstore dupe somewhere and I'm going to eagerly be searching for it. When I do find it, I'll probably shout it from the rooftops, so make sure you climb your roofs once in a while to see if you can hear my squeal of joy.

Since I'm having a horrible time with my skin, I have no swatches on my lips. There just happens to be a huge underneath the skin pimple residing on my chin.

PS. Since the heat has been brutal here in the east coast, make sure to drink a lot of water and put on your SPF especially for your lips.

Stila's Nicole

I'm home today after a killer headache that I couldn't shake off since yesterday night. Usually, I'll just sleep it off, but I woke up to a mild headache that only got worse when I started to move around. It was getting pretty bad and made me nauseous every time I moved. I managed to take two Tylenol and wait this one out. It has gotten better but as soon as the medicine wears off, I know I'll have to pop more pills like a junkie, so better to stay lazing around, hence the new blog post.

Awhile ago, my local Sephora had a Stila clearance sale and I managed to get away with two things that were luckily untouched and sitting at the bottom of the barrel. I think I got Stila's Nicole lipstick for about $6. I don't know if its still available but I hope I never run out of this stuff. Not a big Stila fan but I have a couple of things when they have a good sale. For instance does anyone remember the 2 for $10 illuminating powders that retails for around $32 each?

I've been embracing the peach and coral trend this season and I think that it makes my face look brighter. Seriously, incorporate some peaches and coral into your looks, it's surprising how nice it may look on you.The packaging is fairly plain, housed in a metal looking plastic tube without any indication of the beautiful color inside. If your a sucker for packaging, I can see why you may have passed up on this lipstick.
Looks boring but open it up to find a peachy pink that brightens up my face without any necessary makeup. There are a few things that may put you off. First off is the smell, it smells like old plastic and the scent doesn't truly go away. It fades but if you smack you lips together, you can still taste it after a while. The texture can be a bit dry so make sure you have some chapstick underneath, but once it settles, it looks great. It looks to be pretty matte with no shine, so if you like glossy lips, not for you. Despite the cons, this lipstick has become one of my go to ones for the summer with out any extra gloss on top.
It looks plain and I have many similar colors but nothing looks as nice as this does on my face. It's a close second to my all time favorite lipstick, Revlon's Sparking Cider. Sparkling Cider goes with any look and it makes by natural lip color look better.

Wow, this has been a unnaturally long post for me, pretty creepy. Anyhow, I've been ordering some samples of perfumes off of Etsy and its been lots of fun to try, so hopefully I can write something about that soon.

P.s. Just checked Stila and Sehora and they don't sell lipsticks anymore. I'll just have to use this sparingly or find a kick ass dupe.

Wet n' Wild Lipstick

I managed to locate my camera in the deepest recesses of my bag that I rarely use. My sister found it when she was borrowing it. Conversation went something like this. Me:"I can't find my mofo camera". Sis"It's in the bag, its been in there when I borrowed it four days ago". Me"---" Sis:"Dumbass, that's why we don't buy you nice things". On forwards to the review. Wet n' Wild Lipsticks in 903c and901b for $3.00 at your local drugstores (in the new black packaging). My stores stocks these late, and there were some slim pickings. Luckily it was bogo50%, so I felt better about buying these. Pretty nice colors, decent price and fairly moisturizing but would put on a lip balm first. My sister first saw this and her first phrase was "The packaging looks cheap. It looks like it going to break easily". Yes, she was right. The plastic is fairly cheap, and it squeaks when I turn the lid, but for a cheap lipstick like this, I don't mind. In fact. I think that you are totally getting a good deal for these.
L to R: 903c and901b with pink pout at the end.

903c is a bit coralish and pink in color, and 901b is a fairly milky bright pink. 901b was compared to Pink Pout, but I don't think so. Pink Pout is a bit deeper in color and have different finishes. I've heard that these are matte, but that is clearly not the case. These have a bit of shine to them and glide on very smoothly. I find that matte lipsticks tug a bit on my lips, but these did not. Extremely pigmented, glided on smoothly and stayed on for a fairly long period of time. Totally will pick these up again and definitely recommended for the drugstore price. Sorry about being unable to show pictures on my lip, but I currently have a cold sore and haven't put anything near my lips. Once it heals, will definitely be show them off.

Loreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick

I'm completely depressed. Today I've failed my driver's test. Yes, this happens to almost everybody, but still. I thought I was good. Why have I started to get my license now? Living in nyc means readily available public transportation so I really haven't needed a car. On top of that I never had to worry about gas, insurance or any repair or other expenses. Agrh...I've been pretty busy and haven't gotten any free time, on top of horrible acne coming on, days have been incredibly crappy so far. So retail therapy is necessary.

Onto the review for Loreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick, in 20 Gardenia on left, 40 Amber on right. This does not budge without oil based makeup. I comes with one white conditioning tube and one color. The lipsticks seem a bit small at 2.1g, but there is no need to reapply, guaranteed.

If you look carefully on the bottom, you can still see some leftover lipstick swatches fro five days ago. I do my own housework, so that means dishes, laundry, and cooking, on top of that, I also make sure to wash my hands fairly often, so yeah.
The colors are a bit shimmery and the tube and the actual colors vary a bit. But I got mine for like $3 on 75% off. Whohoo! It's smooth, doesn't dry out the lips and if you make a mistake, get out the oil based makeup remover. You sort of have to scrub to remove, and I don't really like scrubbing at my lips.
These are the three tubes lined up. I'm going to get this for my mother, since she a is a long lasting lip color junkie. Ah, I feel a bit better. Is it wrong that looking at makeup made me feel better? Probably, but I don't care and will be cooing and stroking my makeup. Psychotic much?

Fyrinnae

This was a small purchase that was $20 from Fyrinnae, and I love this stuff. While there are some faults, they are my own and not the company's fault. The shipping was fast and free with a purchase of $20. So it was my first time, and I was pretty happy with this purchase. Look at that orangeish coral blush on the right.
I am going to do a review and swatches in a while, but just a sneak peek.

Rawr, the colors are so pretty and pigmented, but unfortunately not right for my skintone. But still I managed to make it work and will tell you in the next post.

Wet 'n' Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in 521A

I still haven't been able to find a mint green nail color and have managed to feel even worse by going out and getting other green polishes, hoping that they would soothe the beast, but to no success. Now it has become imperative that I find it. On the other hand, I've managed to create marbleing on my nails, courtesy of YouTube videos, and while it look crappy in this photo, I assure you that this looks good.

I am all about trying new colors, and I recently fell in love with this on first glance. Usually, Wet N' Wild Lipsticks aren't my favorite because the colors look absolutely bring, but this one immediately caught my eye. This is a bold fuchsia with a purplish, blueish tint added with a glossy finish. It glides on smooth, it can be dabbed on for a more subtle look but packed on for a dramatic look.
It may look blah and boring, but I just really suck at capturing photos, so don't blame the lipstick. It glistens purple in the sun and it is just pretty. Not of the faint of heart, but it is only 99 cents, so even if you didn't like it, it wasn't a big waste. No lipgloss on top needed.
Only bad thing is that I found this to stain the back of my hand a little, but not my lip. This means that you have to be careful with application because if it gets on your skin, not mouth, it can leave a streak mark.
